SLEEP

Good sleep is essential to good health. Sleep problems can cause severe stress to both the mind and the body whether the victim is aware of it or not. Sleep apnea can cause many episodes of briefly interrupted sleep that leaves the person tired when it is time to get up without knowing why. Others know they go to bed too late even when they have to get up early and very well know why they are tired upon arising. Some just toss and turn, unable to get to sleep, or to stay asleep. And still others get lots of sleep, but it never seems enough.

Whatever a person's sleep problems are, it is important to learn ways of correcting the underlying cause(s) so they can get adequate, restful sleep.

Most adults need about 8 hours of sleep, give or take an hour. Not getting enough sleep over a period of time, or enough of the right kinds of sleep, creates a sleep deficit which can literally rob an otherwise healthy person of his or her sanity.

A child not only needs their sleep to grow, but to understand their schoolwork well enough to make good grades...sometimes, just to make passing grades.

At all ages, there are specific things which can prevent a good night's sleep and other things which can contribute to healthy sleep patterns.
