GOOD! Exercise has many benefits...start right and you'll feel better in many ways, have more energy, and look better, too. Starting right for most folks means starting easy, especially if you have been ill, are a real couch potato, sit at a desk all day, have a medical problem, or been just too busy to exercise and it has been years since you were into any sports, if ever.
Still here? GREAT! As a child, I loved gymnastics and spent hours doing all the tricks & moves my father had taught me. In high school, I was the best at the 100 yard dash and the high jump (no foam in those days). Hiking, horseback riding, skating and dancing were passions. I also played varsity basketball in high school and college. I taught swimming and archery in summer camps, etc., etc. Hey, I even liked calesthenics. In other words, I was a jock. (Maybe you were, too.) But that changed when I started working overtime, and then really changed when I started a family. Housework, running after toddlers, and gardening may wear you out, but they sure don't keep you in shape either! Or, at least, they didn't keep me in shape, or any of my friends. As my children were getting old enough to enjoy hiking, I found out just how out of shape I was when I was totally winded, not getting past the easiest part of the trail, on a formerly favorite hike up to the Humpback Rocks off the Blue Ridge Parkway in mountains of Virginia. Thank goodness there was a bench there overlooking the meadow or I would have had to sit on the wet ground. I could NOT go any farther. The rest of my family went on without me because I said I was all right. I wasn't. Not by a long shot. It hurt my pride, my very being...and my legs, my lungs, everything. I was in a funk the rest of the day, really depressed. OK, my resolve was set. I had to get back in shape. Jogging was THE way to do that back then (I am not a youngster anymore), so that's what I tried to do. I say tried, because I didn't get very far. Why? Because I had not done my homework...therefore I didn't know how to start out right. Never had any such problems before and didn't realize how different it is to get back in shape after you get out of shape. There is a world of difference. I persevered and can now hike that trail all the way to the top again quite easily. And because I did get back in shape, I am much healthier, happier, and have far more energy than most people my age. If I could get back in shape, you can, too....and avoid the mistakes I made in doing it IF you start out easy enough and the right way. Now if you have never been a jock or particularly active, it won't seem odd to start out easy. You may never have liked to exercise. However, if you have been an athlete, it will seem odd, and actually be harder for you not to hurt yourself as I did. In the years since then, I've learned a lot...from reading, research, trainers, therapists, doctors, at gyms, and on the Internet. And a lot of what I've learned from from friends and people I've met is that most people starting to exercise after being sedentary, make many mistakes, so I've written a book to help you avoid the mistakes which might hurt you or discourage you from achieving the wonderful benefits exercise can give you. The title is aptly the "ABCs of Easy Exercise" and it was written to help you get started succesfully no matter how infirm or out of shape you might currently be. At this time it is only available as an e-book in PDF format. The e-book is good because it means you can start reading it right away, before you lose your resolve. Order it now, and you can be reading it in minutes! It is only $14.95 with no shipping or other charges. As soon as you have paid for it, you will be taken to a page giving you a user name and the password and the choice to either read it online or download to your own computer...even to print it out if you want to.
